The Desert Mashie Golf Club grew from an organizational meeting held in Phoenix, Arizona on May 10, 1946. The original 10 founders present at the meeting planted the seed that was eventually to be called the DESERT MASHIE GOLF CLUB. The 10 founders were Dr. Thomas A. Crump, Aubrey C Aldridge, Earl Le Near, Earnest S Bartlett, Dr. Lowell C Wormley, Densil Purdue, Curtis Ramsey, James “Doc” Earl, William “Robbie” Robinson and Ray Mercado. Today, Desert Mashie is the oldest public golf club in Arizona.

The new club organized and held its first golf tournament in 1948. Sixty years later, the “Mashies” are stronger than ever and in 2008 the club will be celebrating its 60th anniversary Desert Mashie Invitational Golf Tournament.
